I run a daycare and have heard so much about blocks I had to get some. I got a basic set and this architectual set. For the number of kids I have I probably need to get more, but for now they work fine. It did take a little playing around with the kids and showing them the potential of the toy before they "got it". Great toy, entertains them for hours. Beware of younger destroyers though. Younger kids love to shove the towers down, much to the dismay of the builder so ground rules are a must.

The grandparents purchased this set of blocks for my two girls (1 & 3) and it has been a phenomenal hit. At first I recommended against the purchase -- it was expensive and we already have a glut of toys. I figured these blocks would just collect dust. Was I wrong.

My older daughter loves constructing with these blocks and plays with them almost every day. "Block time" has become a ritual every evening before bed. What I enjoy is watching her incorporate so many of her other toys into her structures -- little princess toys, my old Star Wars action figures, elements of her dollhouse. And they are super durable -- our youngest throws them around and there aren't any dings or, worse, splintering.

There are a few pics of nice finished projects on the case label that are real easy to duplicate and even easier to riff on. I'm often surprised to see intriguing, multifaceted designs emerge rather than a mere single tower that topples.

There are enough pieces to make this set worthy as a stand-alone but I might even purchase another and get monumental.

This was a gift for my 5 year old boy. He loves it, as do his 9 year old and 2 year old brothers. My wife and I have been very impressed with the things they all build. Great, simple toy for this ADD generation. We just throw them in the box they came in when they are done and leave them in the family room.

I purchased these for my 2 and 6 year old boys. They enjoy them. What a great value and what great quality. I purchased it along with the Melissa and Doug Standard block set (64 pieces I believe, and natural wood also). If you are looking for a nice block set I would purchase both. I'm glad we did. One set would have been good, but the two sets together are better. There are more options, especially with this set. The different blocks, such as the pillars, provide extra character over some of the other sets I've considered. The blocks are a good size too. I've seen some pricier sets that have blocks that are half the size. The corners/edges of the blocks are sanded down also, so they don't have rough edges. These are the type of blocks that you would find in a classroom setting. Click "BUY" now!

Fantastic blocks! They are bigger and more bulky than other brands, it seems. It only makes it easier for children to build structures that will actually last for a while. A castle that my 4-year-old daughter built using these and the standard unit set is still standing after 3 days even though it's on soft carpet and in the middle of the room where we walk all the time. I would recommend buying these with the standard unit blocks, this way you get 100 pieces to work with. Very cool details. Seem very durable and have wonderfully smooth corners. The only thing is that you have to be careful with the box - when filled with blocks, it is very heavy. The fact that these are natural color is also great - they look clean and beautiful. I love these blocks and would recommend them to anybody.

These blocks are good quality and add interest to building. We bought them to go along with the standard blocks. Fun because they're like the ones we had as kids. I'd definitely recommend them

These are very sturdy, well-constructed wooden blocks. My daughter loves to build with blocks, but she was limited with her small set of plain blocks. This set has let her build many different structures using the unique shape blocks including columns, arched doors and steps. We are probably going to buy another set so she can build bigger buildings.

I purchased these blocks for my 3-year old nephew for his birthday two months ago and he is still playing with them. He received several trucks and a toy piano, but he loves his blocks the best. They seem to spark his imagination.

Grandson asked for building blocks, when they were opened he stated "Just what I wanted" Will be able to add to this set and he can build for years.

Building blocks are one of the perfect toys for children of many ages. Our 3 year old twins, boy and girl, both love playing with these melissa and doug blocks. They are durable and a great size to build anything they can imagine with. It is nice that they are all the same color. We have some smaller M&D blocks that are in primary colors which are great to use as accents on whatever they build. You cannot go wrong with these blocks, a great toy. Most local toyshops ask about $59 for these, I paid $35 or so and with free shipping and no tax, it was a great find. Thanks Amazon.

I got these on sale and have 4 of these sets. Every child should have unit blocks. These fit the bill. Highly recommended. Wait till they go on sale for a real steal!

I have purchased these blocks for my 3 1/2 year old and 2 1/2 year old. These blocks are great. Open ended, they create whatever they want. The only thing I wish, is that there were more of them. Believe it or not, 60 pieces is not enough.
They are big, which is a huge plus and seem to be solid wood. I have read the rewies about the filler, but ave to disagree. Maybe they have upgraded them since that review.
Very highly recommend.
Just beware, they are very heavy.

I purchased these blocks for my 2 daughters (2 yrs & 3.5 yrs old) for Christmas. This is a great set of blocks - large pieces, enough blocks to build a BIG castle, and very sturdy! I had first purchased a set of blocks of a different brand...but quickly returned them when I saw how small the pieces were and how little you actually got in the set. My husband loves to build big castles, houses, towers, etc. with the girls - if only we could get my 2 year old to stop knocking them down!
Overall, this is worth the investment...as always, Melissa & Doug have delivered a beautiful, educational toy that will hold up for many, many years!

When I was young, I had a set of solid wood standard unit blocks, and I played with them constantly. Ever since I became a mother, I've looked for a set that was good quality and affordable, and I've finally found them. We absolutely love these blocks. They were a Christmas gift for my 21-month-old son, and he and my 3-year-old play with them every day. They use them to build buildings, castles, and towers for their action figures, and roads for their cars. I didn't notice any smell from the blocks like some reviewers noted, and they don't splinter or split in any way. I would recommend buying more than one set to expand the fun, but one set is definitely enough to play with on it's own. My boys also love the wooden box that the blocks come in - it has been a boat, a chair, and some other very imaginative things. :)

When we received this block set for our Grand-daughter we were really amazed at the quality and workmanship of the blocks. We, of course had to dump out the set on the floor and give it a "test play". Both of us are in our sixties and had a great time building with them. I have a feeling that we will have to order 2 more sets so all 3 of us can play "Blocks" together. Thank you for making such a great product.

Excellent toy for my grand children. I even enjoyed playing with the blocks. Great way to play with children without video games or tv. Very educational.

Customer Buzz
Great product, US made. Very safe (no splinters, paints, or sharp edges). Shipped quickly. Great price. My grandchild will love them, when he's old enough! Every household with kids should invest in a set.
