Our family just recently discovered this game. This purchase was for my grandson's 5th birthday. He is not a typical 5-year-old, however, as he is exceptionally focused and very bright. I would not recommend this game for most kids under 8 or 9. For everyone else, though, it is a super game. Like chess, but not so tedious and slow-moving. Teaches strategy. My husband and I are in our 60s and addicted to it! At a recent family gathering of all ages, someone was playing this game at all hours. Try it ~ you'll love it!!

A friend of mine recently raved about this game. I had contemplated buying it several times and for one reason or another decided not to.



Imagine my delight at finding it at my favorite second-hand store for about the price of an ice cream cone! Someone was weeding out their game closet and I was happy to be the lucky person to reap the benefits.



I have only played this once but I loved it. My husband calls me 'Miss. Spacial' and this game is made for all the Miss. and Mr. Spacials out there. My son (four and a half), my daughter (seven and a half) and I played and my daughter won.



My son said it was boring but my daughter really liked it. It requires a bit of quiet thoughtfulness once you get to the end. He's not much on quiet thoughtfulness just yet.



I think this will be a great game to play with the grandparents. I'm looking forward to playing again.

My family and I have lots of fun playing this game. Strategy and thinking are involved but it is not difficult. Even though this is a 2-4 player game, it is better when you play with 3-4 players. There are too many spaces available for just 2 players unless each player uses 2 colors and then it gets confusing.

My daughter got this for Christmas when she was 5 years old, and we brought it on our annual after-Christmas trip. Not only did the 5yr old love the game, but her 17yr old sister loved it, too, and both of "us parents" were hooked. Honestly, we're always in search of activities that are fun for the whole family and offer the chance for both of our daughters to spend time with us together. Since there's such a significant age span, this is difficult to do. This game totally ROCKED in terms of keeping the whole family having fun together.

Blokus Classic This game is fun for the whole family. My seven year old granddaughters can play with the adults and have a great time. Creative and teaches spatial concepts.


This game is so much fun. It really challenges your mind. You have to think and use strategy. It is a different game every time you play it.


Fun game with others or the solo version. I love visual organizing and love this game.


This is a great game for adults with various gaming skills. I think children above 12 would also enjoy it. We varied who played the blue pieces (and plays first in each round) for each round, as that did change the player's strategy.


I absolutely LOVE this game and would recommend it to everyone who loves playing games! It is mentally challenging, fun for all ages (my 5 year old daughter loves it), and lights the competitive spirit that makes games so fun!

This gift was purchased for my Born-Again Christian friend's Private School and the little kids love this game. I was introduced to it at my daughter's home at Christmas by my grandchildren and we had a lot of fun with it...and it makes you use your "thinking cap" in so many ways! We love the Blokus 3D Board Game!!!

BTW: The little kids are "rewarded" by getting to play Blokus 3D--when they have successfully completed their school work!!

my kids had the original blokus and this one is far better. The love the challenge of the game and the fact that more then 2 players can play is a bonus. once your kids catch on it gets pretty hard to beat them.


I received this game as a gift this past holiday season. I recently broke it out of the box and played it with my 8-year-old daughter, older brother, and mother. This game really promotes thinking and strategy, and my mother found it more difficult than my daughter! My 5-year-old son isn't ready for it, but I think ALL ages over 8 will enjoy it. I really recommend this game for anyone looking to increase family fun time.


I love playing this game. It's much nicer than Rumis (I own both). Great games from children 5+


This is my favorite blokus game. The 3D version plays quickly and is lots of fun for 2 people. I put a little silicon lubricant on the turn table and that makes it turn very smoothly. The game is well constructed and comes in a nice sturdy box to keep track of all parts.


Comparing Blokus 3-d to its predecessor Rumis, it's a much better value. The components are better and the grid on the playboard helps keep the pieces in place. You sacrifice 2 templates (Rumis has 6, 3-d has 4), but the quality more than compensates.

The strategy in 3-d is nothing like that in regular Blokus. Instead of connecting at corners, 3-d requires you to always have one face of your piece touching another, making blocking in 3-d more critical and dangerous since you could be completely blocked early in play. 3-d also seems somewhat quicker, so it won't require the same time commitment regular Blokus does.

Other than the lack of two templates, you may be disappointed in the quality for the price, although 3-d is an improvement compared to other Educational Insights games. I have Blokus and Travel Blokus also, and with those you get the feeling the game costs no more than a few bucks to produce but sells for much higher than the quality would normally dictate. It's a shame Education Insights skimps on quality AND charges you such a premium, but 3-d is a step in right direction, so I'm hoping the company realized this and is correcting it.

Overall I'd recommend buying. 3-d has its own uniqueness and challenging aspect. Plus, it's a nice change of pace to regular Blokus due to its quickness and strategy differences.

Not age specific. The seven to eleven year olds enjoy it and adults like it. Trigon offers more ways around blocks, making the game more playable than the original square Blokus.


We've been enthusiastic about Blokus for a couple of years and this Blokus Trigon is the most recent purchase. While we REALLY enjoy Trigon, I have to say the original Blokus proves to be the most challenging for some reason. My only complaint is that sometimes the pieces move out of place sometimes when someone is taking a turn and accidentally bumps something. And unless you know EXACTLY where that piece was, you feel a little cheated... you just want everything to stay where you put it until the end. But we will be enjoying these various versions for a long time. As an artist, I see it as a great tool to improve awareness of spatial relationships. Great fun... and easy to play while having actual conversation with your kids/friends!


This is a wonderful game for ages 8 and up, you have to think about your moves and plan strategy for your next move, you are using your brain not just rolling dice and moving pieces around the board. Would be a great "Braingame" for seniors.


We play this with our 7 and 3 year old kids and everyone enjoys the game. The three year old can grasp the rules, but not yet the strategy.


My sister has this. We (ages 19 to 76) gathered around to play after Thanksgiving dinner for several hours, and now I want one of my own.

I agree that it is best played with 3 or 4 players. It wasn't catching on when just 2 were trying to play. I didn't learn the solitaire rules, but that could be interesting.

I also agree that the pieces are small, a bit hard to keep still on the board, and easily lost.
