I purchased this item thinking it would be a good learning activity that would benefit my kindergardener. It does interest a visual learner because it uses color coded number tiles and pictures, plus it doesn't require the ability to write. However, it was very confusing overall. The numbered tiles have to be matched to the corresponding answer on the opposite side of the page, which can become confusing if the answer is a number (example, if problem #1 is to find the missing number between 4 and 6, then on the opposite side of the page, you put the #1 tile on the answer 5.) Now that my son is 8, he is interested and able to complete all of the activities in the book (which is supposed to be for children 4-6 years old.) In addition, we had to purchase an additional tile set because once a tile is missing, you can no longer complete the activity. Another aspect of the activity is the self checking that can be done using the color pattern created once the child has completed the task. Unfortunately if your child is easily discouraged or hates to be wrong, this can be a deterrent to his trying to complete the tasks independently. If I had the opportunity to do it over again, I wouldn't.
