From Wild Planet:
Animal Scramble is a really fun game and we thank each customer for their honest feedback; it was through your reviews that we learned how to improve the design of this toy. Our engineers and have made alterations including re-designing the pegs to be more durable and keep the animals on their bases. If you experience any problems at all with this game, we ask that you please contact us via email at animalscramble@wildplanet.com."

From the makers of the popular Hyper Dash games, Animal Scramble is the listen-and-learn game of animal tag. Set out the animals, and listen to the giraffe call out friendly, encouraging clues. Which animal is green? Who says "rooooar?" Kids must scramble to the correct animal and tag it with the giraffe. This active learning game lets kids move, have fun and build coordination as they learn colors, numbers and animal sounds. Five levels of run-around fun, from easy to hard, allow this game to grow with your child. Requires three "AAA" batteries, not included.

 "Fun but Fragile" 2009-05-21
By Caroline B. Keller (San Diego, CA United States)
Considering the age group this game is targeting - the little ones - their engineers missed an opportunity for design innovation. They made really cute little animals ... that break and fall off their bases.

Like others here, I have glued the animals down on their now broken green bases. I used gorilla glue which worked but puffed up around the feet of the animals.

But it is still in high rotation around here. The box has been taped and re-taped. (Another missed opportunity for design innovation.)

I paid full price, and I think if I had it to do over again I would probably just buy the "big kid" version (HYPER DASH) and have my little ones make do.

But if you get a good price, it is worth the hassles. Our electronics are still working great, with 3 little kids and being played a couple times a week for at least 6 months.

"It broke in the first hour!!!!" 2009-05-13

Got it for the kids from the Easter bunny... I think the toy is adorable! BUT it broke with in the first hour. My kids are 5 and 3. ( they are not hard on things ) I have tried over and over to glue the animals to the base. Super Glue, Gorilla Glue, Rubber cement. Nothing works.

I feel we are left with little animals floating around the house with no purpose and a waste of money. Don't waste your money or time!

 "SO, So, so dissapponited" 2009-04-24
By Disappointed Dad
This game was at the top of our Christmas list for our 3 year old son. We were so excited about it- loved the concept and just knew our son would get into it. Well, come Christmas morning he did! He was super excited about receiving it, so we openend it and played. In the 1st game, yay FIRST use, two of the four animals broke off their stands. The little green peg made a clean break inside the tiger and the monkey. They can't stand, even though I've tried and tried super gluing, and the game just isn't the same. We could NOT believe the poor, poor quality and to say we were disappointed was an understatement. What a great game concept, but what nousey construction.

"Great toy with one simple drawback...It breaks!" 2009-03-13
By K. Mogilefsky (CA)
My son loves this toy. At around 3 years old, he's not much for hiding the pieces or even spreading them out, but he loves the excitement of the game and is getting the idea of "racing" to finish the game quickly. The biggest problem is that the small animals rest on little green bases (see photo) with the smallest pegs you've ever seen. These pegs break instantly. Three of the animals will not stand on their own, and the giraffe doesn't register the animals unless they are upright, so leaving them laying down isn't an option. After setting the toy aside for a few months (and almost tossing it), my husband finally had the genius idea of making bases for the animals out of playdough. It works great. They might get dirty if you put them somewhere other than a table, but they hold the animals up and make play possible again.

"finally, a fun active game for young ones" 2009-02-23
By Ingrid Thomas (Cincinnati, OH)
I think I've said it all in the title. It's fun, it keeps them running around, they're amused, they can take turns...I've been looking for a game like this for a while. It's young enough for very young children (they only need to be able to identify the four different animals and walk) and is fun enough to keep their interest for a while. There are four different games so you can even use it for older children to do a treasure hunt, etc. My children are 3 and 1 and we can all play this together (the 1 year old still needs help) for 45 minutes. It's more active than a puzzle, more directed than musical instrument time or bubble time, and it encourages them to respond to auditory stimuli. We first played it at occupational therapy and strongly recommend it to any young family that spends alot of time playing together.
