I really like this toy and am glad that I bought it for my boys. It is not their first go to toy but they do like it. Placing the mail in the slots is challenging, especially with the stamps in place. We have incorporated the use of junk mail into their play with this. We did have the facing peel off of one of the wooden envelopes and I have yet to try to repair it. This only has happened to one thus far. A friend of mine used this when she taught preschool. The children all had a laminated envelope that contained their name on the outside. She used this to collect attendance and the kids loved it. Very good toy for imaginative play!
I have an 18 month who's pretty active and beats on her toys. She really enjoys the mailbox, and I think it's something she won't "grow out" of anytime soon. She loves to chew on the velcro "stamps" but does get frustrated when she can't slide the envelopes in - ahh, toddlers. A nice toy, glad to have purchased it.
My sons love this toy...it gets beaten up pretty quickly, but they do love to play with the mail and the stamps...they actually make more of their own mail out of paper and envelopes, but it is a nice addition to the toys.
This is a great toy for the fun factor but falls apart too quickly. You can get details about that with any of the other reviews. My major hang up with this is that it is difficult for little ones to get the mail letters into the box. Some letters are odd shaped and thicker then others so that they have to go into specific slots. On top of that if you apply the velcro stamp then the letter can only go in the slot in one direction on a specific side. Too difficult for eager children just wanting to put mail in the box.
As other reviewers stated, this thing is not put together well at all. We ordered this for my 3yr old for Christmas, because he is fascinated by mail. He loved it, but the back door broke loose the first night. We used Elmer's wood glue to glue it back on and didn't let him play with it for a day. It has held since then, but we have decided that we will reinforce with screws if it happens again. Also, the paint was chipped on top as soon as we took it out of the plastic. I was just disappointed in it. I couldn't send it back because my son does enjoy playing with it. I would recommend this because there is nothing else on the market like it, but not if you don't want to have to repair it or add screws to make it more sturdy. Like I said in my title: Great idea, but very poor quality.
I got this toy at a garage sale for $5 It was brand new (man at sale said a family member owns a toy store and gives him scratch and dent items for his sales) This item had been dropped and had a small dent in the top of the side. When I got home I colored it in with a marker of the same color. It wasnt a perfect match but my son was 3 at the time. He loved his mailbox. I got it at a time when pretend play was a big part of his life. He would carry the mail in a bag and put them into the mailbox. Then make another trip and use his key to take them out again and and place back in his bag. He would deliver them to different rooms in the house. The mail will only fit into certain slots and only turned a certain way. My son is 5 yrs old now and still plays with it. Not in the same way but he does still use it. I was gonna give it away but he asked that we keep it. We have a real plastic mailbox attached to his wooden swing/playset outside and he uses these letters and stamps in it now. Would have been worth the retail cost too.

My son received this as a gift. Like to other reviews we had issues. The lock fell off and my children ended up using it as a dog house, a $40- dog house! I e-mailed the company and they were horrified that this happened and within 2 weeks my children had a new mailbox to play with (and they have been playing non-stop with it). The new mailbox is different. The doors are different. The lock is held on with screws instead of glue and the other door has 3 circles of velcro and a small hole to put one finger inside to open the door. There is no more magnet. They have made great changes in this product so I give the old version of the mailbox 2 stars, the company 5 stars and the new mailbox style 5 stars!
.. it's toast. Both doors have broken off and can no longer even be fixed anymore. The mail is horribly dinged up, just from banging against each other in the mailbox. The stamps don't tend to stay on well after a couple months of intermitten use and sadly it's now sitting in our closet since the door splintered when coming off and can't be glued again.
THis was a terrific idea. THe kids loved it. The door held my magnets would open when they dropped the mail in, this frustrated the kids. The piece that held the lock in place came off (the glue didn't hold). We repaired it with s screw. It was an easy fix but you shouldn't have to fix a new toy.
