My 16-month-old daughter loves to mimic me and play pretend, so I have been searching for play food for her. I was unable to find any that was labelled for smaller children, but I figured I could buy these and simply withold the strawberries. As it turns out, even the strawberries are too large for my daughter to get them all the way in her mouth, so I do not have to worry. She loves them! She gathers them all in her basket and then hands them out, pretending to eat. In know that they will continue to provide entertainment and learning possibilities as she gets older. There was only the slightest hint of "new toy" smell when I opened the package, but it dissapated quickly. The size and coloring of each peice is very realistic. Just perfect.
As mentioned by previous reviewers, this product is tops! Not only does it look like the real thing, it is made out of sturdy plastic with a nice matte finish, which is unlikely to chip off (like sometimes occurs with wooden Melissa & Doug products). My son just loved these fruits and the veggie set that we bought as well. Highly recommended!
I'm so happy with these playtime fruits. They are exactly what I was looking for! They are high quality and very realistic. I want my daughter (1 year old) to be playing with healthy "foods" - I'm definitely ordering the veggies! I can see my daughter playing with these for years to come.
Initially I ordered the Learning Resources food that everyone raves about - but it had a terrible chemical smell and for the price I didn't think the quality was very good. I ordered this food to replace it - and I LOVE it - couldn't be happier.
Very high quality, no paint or chemical smell at all. each piece has a great attention to detail is very realistic, and is a nice size for my daughter (nearly 3 years old). I'm also pleased that I know it's a safe product because my year old son loves to put the pieces in his mouth. He carries around the two strawberries - everything is so cute!
My daughter hasn't stopped playing with her food since she got it - she loves it. Great product!
We just bought this for our 2 year-old daughter. I was eager to replace it with the poor quality, not to mention, unhealthful food choices she already had.
The fruit is actual size and looks very real. She enjoys playing with them in her kitchen and pushing them around in her shopping cart.
From an educational standpoint, it's a good learning tool to teach fruits, colors as well as count.
Very good quality product. I'm adding the vegetables to her collection. I have yet to be letdown by a Melissa & Doug product.
