Natursutten teething rings are filled with purified sterilized water, free of any chemicals. The rings themselves are made from EVAtane (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), a material also used for medical products, free of BPA-A, phthalates and any chemical softeners. This product bears the EN 71 EU European standard, an EU norm concerned with safety in child use and care articles. Made in Germany. Caution! Teething rings can be cooled down in a refrigerator, but NEVER in a freezer. They must NEVER be boiled or steamed, and do NOT attempt to sterilize them in a microwave oven.
This is by far the best teether I've found. The traditional teething rings sold in the big baby stores all seem to be made in China & they smell really odd - like glue or something. I've noticed that many of them (Sassy, Bright Starts, etc - even some that claim to be BPA free) have a residue that comes off on your skin & transfers the smell as well. This just can't be good for an infant to injest, regardless of how small the quantity. And if I wouldn't put it in my own mouth, why would I offer it to my baby? Spend the [...] bucks - it's totally worth it!
By the way, the apple is much cuter (and a nicer, lighter color) in person!
The product is good and my son likes it, but it's a little expensive for what it is. I found many other BPA free teethers at our local store for $3 that he likes just as much. The texture on the surface is a good touch and is worth a bit more, but with shipping it was just too much.
I have been searching everywhere for a safe teether for baby! I am trying to avoid buying "made in China" items and also am looking for BPA free toys/feeders/etc. This is EXACTLY what I wanted. It is made in GERMANY and has to meet at least the European (which is more strict than USA) safety requirements. I am comfortable with allowing baby to mouth this toy to soothe the pain from teething, and it is so good that I can stick it in the refrigerator for a nice cooling sensation on baby's gums. DO NOT FREEZE IT. I think the blue fish style is the cutest rather than the yellow apple, but I have both and they are both wonderful. SO MUCH BETTER than what I have been able to find in the department and discount stores around here.
