The colorful beads are pretty, durable, and reuseable. However, the non-stretchy cord that comes in this set isn't practical for kids. It is made of shoelace material, which could be hazerdous if a child made a necklace out of it and got caught up on something. It is too thick to break away. Otherwise, it is a nice set. My children will continue to play with the beads, but the not the cord.

I PURCHASED THIS BEAD SET FOR MY GOD DAUGHTER WHO LIVES IN ALASKA AND ALWAYS NEEDS TO FIND SOMETHING TO DO INDOORS. SHE IS 8 YRS OLD AND JUST LOVED MAKING THINGS SHE COULD WEAR TO SCHOOL AS WELL AS GIVE TO HER FRIENDS.
My 5 year old daughter loves this toy. Stringing the beads is made easy with the shoelace type strings, and she has so much fun stringing letters to make jewelry for siblings and friends. Great product.
These beads are great for my five year old. My only complaint is there was no lid on the box for storage. Bad design!
We recently gave this set to a family friend on her sixth birthday - they have raved about what fun it is! Both the little girls and her three year old brother have played with the beads and had a great time - it kept them occupied for a LONG time, too! Mom says it's great for dexterity and for learning shapes, colors, and letters.
These are great, come a sturdy wooden box and it a great big kid little kid sharing "show me" toy.
I got these for my niece, she's nearly 6 and loved them. She is learning to read now and it was great to see her sounding out names and putting the letters together to spell them on the necklaces. It's evident that she'll be playing with these for a while as she discovers that you could actually load up the strings instead of having only a couple of beads in the middle. That said: you might want to get some extra beading string right off the bat; we were out in a very short time with lots of beads left in the box. The beads are sturdy, cute and easy to put on the strings. The box has a nice lid and keeps everything organized and easy to put away.
This is a fantastic toy/craft. My 6 yr old daughter loves it. She has finished all the necklaces you can make. I would suggest the mfr. add more string for the necklaces. I will be getting more colorful string at the fabric store to use with the remaining beads. I highly recommend this as a gift for you child.
Great starter beading for young ones. Much more durable then the plastic ones and the strings with the covered ends make it easier on Mommy!
