playfoam is great fun, but imagine the dissapointment my little gift receivers felt when what they opened was half useless. The foam was dry and crumbly. Only about half was useable. I've subsequently found out how to make floam myself from online tutorials at instructibles.com.
While this is a fun product what I received was junk. Obviously, either this brand was terrible or the seller stocked out of date or low quality stock.
Make your own and save money.
The product does everything it says= it retains its stickiness without sticking to things you don't want it to (your clothes, your floor, your furniture) but it's sort of like Post-It notes in that it sticks just BARELY. My son (4.5 yr old) and I have tried to make many shapes including just a simple roll and PlayFoam won't hold its shape. It falls, deflates, and pulls apart to easily. So, the only thing you really CAN do with it is squish and smash it. My son played with it a couple times before moving on to Moon Sand (much to my chagrin because Moon Sand is REALLY messy but he loves it way better than PlayFoam probably for that very reason)!
I got the product today and had a blast myself (well - my 6 yr old included)...in fact as I type, I am still playing with it myself...does not stick - quite an addictive thing...this should be compared with play doh - which is almost a different product by itself..if ur looking at something which you can mould with precision, this is not the stuff. this is for quick make shapes - but dont expect this to give you precision...this is just the right kind of stuff...
My 4 year old wanted Moon Sand after seeing it advertised on tv. I of course had to spend hours (practically) checking it and similar products out to get the very best cuz that's how I am. I decided on this stuff because it wasn't as messy. That's true, but it's boring! It's been almost 2 months since Christmas and we still haven't used all the pastel colors. I was enthralled with it at first, making a ball and squeezing squeezing SQUEEZING it. Didn't last long. I made some letters, my son's name. We mixed colors together. Haven't touched it since. I think I liked it more than my son did.
We'll go back to Play-Doh!
This is a great product. We just leave it out on the table, and my five year old walks up anytime and starts playing with it. I even play with it. It doesn't dry out, and there is absolutely no mess. Great purchase!
This stuff is amazing.
It's as advertised and what a price! You get 10 times as much of this stuff as you do ONE tub of floam for about the same price. I will NEVER buy floam again! I would buy more of this stuff and give it as gifts!
Even older kids grab this stuff and start sculpting away.
It claims to never dry out. We've had it for about 2-3 weeks now and it isn't any different than the day it came from Amazon. Shipping was only a few days, even at standard price. We have really enjoyed this product.
Drawbacks? You can't quite make a 'detailed' sculpture' with it.. The texture is kind of like rice crispie treats.. the colors will eventually end up mixed, no matter how hard you try. Although if you wanted to give your teenager a challenge, have them separate the colours, it can be done.. !!
I would highly recommend this product. Even kids with sensory issues may be able to handle this. You can't beat the price, buy a few sets and give it as gifts. It will be a favourite. It doesn't stick to anything but itself! No stains, no mess! No real clean up!

This is a great product as long as your child will not put it in their mouth. It is a choking hazard. That said, it does not stick to anything even the carpet. If your kids can keep the colors separate it will work even better. But like playdough once the colors combined you have a multicolored ball that you cannot separate. Unlike play dough though it never hardens. I have a clump of foam just sitting on my coffee table waiting for my son to finish what he started when he comes home from school. I find that if you make little skinny peices, like a snake, you can bend them into letters and numbers. Which turned out to be good practice. My 4 yr old made his name. My five year old makes space ships and flies them around. We also play guess that shape with it.
And like another reviewer said, this product is great for long car rides and for when they are waiting in a restaurant for their food. This year all the kids in the family will be getting this product for Easter.
This stuff is great! My kids (2 & 5) had so much fun playing with the different colors. It didn't stick to or stain my furniture or carpet. It also doesn't dry out. Very easy clean up. Unfortunately my kids mixed all of the colors the first day and now we just have a giant multicolored ball of the stuff. They still like to play with it.
I bought this for my grandchildren (2 of them) as one of their Christmas presents. They got so many many gifts dolls, guitar, video games, you name it I think it was under the tree and PlayFloam was the first thing they wanted to play with. They played with that stuff so much and had such a good time I was amazed. They youngest one who is 5 says it is better than playdough. The oldest guy is 10 and he thinks it rocks! So yes I would recommend PlayFoam to you a Fun Fun Fun for the kids!
I bought this for my niece and she absolutely loves it! She can play with it over and over, since it doesn't stick to surfaces. And if the colors all get mixed together it's like a big ball of candy sprinkles. Looks very pretty, instead of looking like some ugly mess that you get with play dough or other playing compounds. She wanted Floam, but that is a gooey sticky mess so her mom said no. I found this and it was even better! It kind of reminds me of rice crispy treats, how the marshmallows kind of string away as you break them into pieces, only not so sticky. If you are considering this for your child, they will love it! Not recommended for little ones, my daughter is 2 and she just wants to eat it.
